Prof. Himanshu Rai first got a taste of mountaineering-trekking on a trip in 1992 undertaken by Tata Adventure Foundation, then headed by Ms Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to scale the Everest. He pays an annual visit ever since to the Garhwal Himalayas… a place he calls his spiritual home..

He has conducted more than a dozen expeditions in what can be a treacherous terrain and in the most challenging of weather conditions, at heights of up to 20,000 ft. He has explored most of the treks in this vast area and has scaled Rudragaira, Khatling and Chandrashila peaks.
