Dr. Himanshu Rai conducts following training programs in India and abroad:

Strategic Business Negotiation (SBN)

Negotiation is an integral part of any business process. This course recognises the importance of improving negotiating ability of participants and does so by indentifying their strengths and weaknesses, thus helping them evaluate it.

Participants learn about the processes which create situations that call for negotiations, learn to understand the behaviours of negotiating actors, learn to analyse the changing dynamics of such situations and to work out strategies to deal with it successfully. The learning process is dynamic, heavily favouring a role-play and communication-based approach over a textbook one.

Leadership Through Literature (LTL)

This course uses renowned works of literature to offer participants an opportunity to create perspectives on abstract concepts such as leadership, vision, meaning, myth and reality, actions, reactions, and interactions. Every culture shows evidence of dispensing knowledge and value education through storytelling; this course takes it to a higher level by encouraging discourse, debate, and a critical analysis of literary characters. The simple objective is to help participants clarify their ideals and develop perspectives that may help them navigate through ethical dilemmas in the course of their life.

Justice, Ethics and Morality (JEM)

Justice is a concept generally understood as the quality of being fair, and that of perceived fairness. It defines and is defined by our ever-dynamic concepts of ethics, law, natural law, morality, religion, time, societal norms, etc. The proposal hereby is to prosecute this discourse through collective examination of popular issues with philosophical underpinnings of what is right and wrong, good or bad, and the cultural constructs interacting with the same. The course encourages participants to develop and anchor their own sense of Justice in the realities rooted in their consciousness, while motivating them to understand what it means to people around them.

Framing Identities & Roles through Exploration (FIRE)

FIRE is much more than a course (see blog on FIRE). There are no theories, no tests, no evaluation; yet, the learning is immense. Technically speaking, it is an experience-based learning lab. It is an off-campus three-day long full-time residential interaction which is guided by experts.

The course facilitates participants to reflect on their life experiences, and analyse them in order to gain a deeper understanding of their roles and identities within their own social contexts. This is done through storytelling, story creation, discussions, communication, etc, and guidance as well as participation is provided by the faculty.

It helps participants probe philosophical questions on a personal level: who am I? What is my purpose in life? Why I am the way I am? What values, goals, relationships are important to me? How can I organize my relationships better? What do I need to let go in order to feel better about myself? The process is such that the participants work their way to the answers on their own.

Human Resource Management (HRM)

Skilled and efficient human resource management is imperative to steering of any business organization towards success. This course helps students understand the role of HRM as an integrated and strategic business process, and familiarizes them with different tools and techniques associated with managing and developing people potential.

Organizational Behaviour (OB)

A key aspect of managing human resources in complex organisations is about thoroughly understanding how individuals and groups within interact with each other. It looks at individual and group dynamics at play in workplaces, and studies its various aspects such as values, attitudes, personalities, culture, communication and motivation. A combination of methodologies are applied here such as engaging in dialogues on various academic perspectives, self analysis and feedback, case analyses, management games, and role plays.

International Business Communication (IBC)

Communication can make or break relationships. This is especially important in international business scenarios. Competence, skill, knowledge, power, which are the elements of any business, must be backed by effective communication strategies. In a globalised world, it becomes even more important to be sensitive to the cultural and societal norms of the people we are dealing with.

This course brings students up to date with the latest communication strategies, helps them cultivate the skill to communicate effectively and appropriately across various cultures by using a problem-solving approach towards persuasion and the task of making themselves understood.

In general, the course is aimed at making students capable of responding to situations in a culturally sensitive manner.

Advanced Research Methods (ARM)

This course provides students an in-depth understanding of various methods of conducting research in the social sciences. Assuming that participants have a grasp of basic research methods and quantitative analysis skills, the course helps them hone their skills in defining research problems, creating and evaluating appropriate research designs, critically interpreting information, deriving conclusions, writing research proposals and reports.
